Protests also erupted in Mbale town in eastern Uganda with rampaging demonstrators setting on fire anything that was combustible including a government car. The army had to step in to reinforce the police to bring back order to the town. The riots as in Kampala were sparked off by the roughshod manner in which FDC leader Dr Kizza Besigye was arrested in Wandegeya yesterday.
