Subaru Rally Team USA - XGames 13 - Travis Pastrana

Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom won the Bronze medal in the X Games 13 Rally Car Super Special event. Pastrana, driving his BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI missed out on a shot at the Gold while challenging Hollywood stunt driver and Rally America competitor Tanner Foust. Pastrana crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified for crossing over into Tanner's lane. The crowd and the SRT USA team members erupted in celebration at Pastrana's victory before hearing minutes later that race officials would disqualify Pastrana for the crossing into Foust's lane. "I was really happy with how we drove, and our Subaru and BFGoodrich Tires were amazing," he said in the paddock, bent and bruised rally cars everywhere. "Look at these cars. It was demolition derby out there. I drove my best and still crossed the line first. It was the wrong line, though! But they made the right call. It made for a good show I bet, but after winning the Gold last year, taking home Bronze this time around is hard to swallow."

@EvanTheMoose no, but considering who he is and wat experience he has in rally, he was a damn good one. ken block may be the one representing the us in the wrc, but pastrana has shown he is just as good as block, perhaps better. beating the f1 world champ, setting some REAL records on mt washington and new years, and pulling off some decent results (sure, not the best) shows that hes a great one. i would call him the best american rally driver of this generation without a doubt.

Most rally cars use a Hydraulic Emergency Brake System which is much more powerful than a standard equipped emergency brake. The Hydraulic System locks up the back wheels immediately (which is potentially dangerous to someone doing everyday driving). There are also other methods of drifting, on top of the fact that these cars have some mad horsepower.

1) They have hydrolic handbrakes, don't compare them to a normal handbrake in your car

2) He does it at a much higher speed than you do, probably.

3) The right moment to pull it is necessary, you cannot pull the brake and then turn.

4) If your E brake barely stops you, than it is worthless. Go to a mechanic and get it fixed.

5) In a normal car, especially when you have brake discs at the back wheels, you need to really pull it hard and rapidly to loose traction to get an oversteer
