Jackpot Nevada blew up a bat cave to cut down on the bat population. Soon after they had a monstrous fly infestation & other bugs, that they still have to this day. It's nasty, the bats were a hell of a lot better.

@mukwah1111 I laid out the carpeting that I removed down the slippery slope (steep) in my backyard to eradicate the grass/weeds - impossible to cut. The plan is to put in shade loving (north facing) shrubs & perennials & mulch. What do you think of earth bags around the perimeter of the hill then cardboard, compost & horse poop within the bags to hold it in place? Cant dig the soil its too compact & cant afford run-off. Have 2 rolls of landscape fabric to sew my own bags.. What you think ?

@erochow Thks Eric. My store bought wooden bat house is more like a tall wooden bird house & the booklet said nothing about painting it dark nor texturizing the int Drats ! My climate in S. Ont is similar to yours I think?. I can turn my hand to most things out of necessity however I dont own power saws but I can bead a mean caulk line ! I recently laid tiles in my house from the front door to the back & my aching forearm can attest to that (caulking the perimeter
so... how did the bat house work after you put it up?

@davepaff bat house siting is a roll of the dice, the ones that work best are at least 12' off the ground and follow the guidelines by Bat Conservation Intl . yes they do work. thx for watching, eric GardenFork

@1978graham no, you're not crazy. we're reposting some of the older shows at a higher resolution, cleaning up some text, and adding the music credit in the end title card.
