...Why does the game refer to the young horse as a calf? Baby horses are called foals.

And on the subject of elves, Santa's elves are small because that's how folkloric elves are. It was Tolkien who started the trend that elves be more humanlike, as that's how he depicted them in Middle-earth. *nerd*
