I think this poem talks about the onlooker who sits and watches quietly with adoration and the other that is in the midst of it all. Poem talks about two very different lives...the quiet shy onlooker...the get in the middle all of the hectic crowd and being fruitful...I dont think its about a secret love...two sides to the person..

This is interesting point of view. It could be so. But I think Michael talks in this song about man and his inner, secret companion - soul or God, if you want say so.

I find Michael very spiritual person and his religion eudcation in his childhood and youth times was impact on his whole life. He followed the values from that religion education, which he was upgraded with his own spiritual and emotional experiences.

I feel this song like me and my inner companion into myself, with whom I talk every day or moment and understand this song like Michael was talking about a person and his conscience or God or inner power into himself.

It's interesting on how many different points of view you can look on this song.

All Michael songs are yery spiritual and emotional strong and I thing that his spirituality made Michael the one. who was (or is - his spirit is in every song of him)

Lovely, I have *Dancing the Dream* its truly an amazing book, he was so smart, hardly many people know it.

There re so many hidden messages in it, metaphores and stuff like that, u really have to think to understand sum of the tuff he's trying to get across..

I think he is talking about a brother,maybe twin,who is never known,he gets all the awards,the fame,money,adoration,and the other is hidden,invicible and he loves him very much,i know this would be like a bomb,because how could he had a twin and no one knew for 51 years?...but the poem points to someone who is like his shadow,but exists!!!,and that he loves him,he even gives clues!!!! is weird...but worth researching ;)
