Building a HARTLEY TAHITIAN Ferro Cement 46ft yacht, see some before and after pics and meet the builder. Built in maylands boatyard in Perth West Australia between the years 1991 and 1992, launched and then finished fitting out at Fremantle sailing club.
Included was a home built and designed steel mast of 60ft long weighing in at 13kg per meter the same as a similar 60ft mast in aluminium

I too still love them...big problem downunder is you cant get insurance and as such no yacht club or marina will allow you berth anymore without the insurance....and so there now just about all dissapearing to moorings instead....so now we have a 35ft roberts flush deck ketch instead...and it's glass

Yes.....even built the mast ourselves.....took 8 years
