Student Sues After Punishment for His Religious Beliefs on Homosexuality
The Thomas More Law Center filed a federal lawsuit yesterday afternoon against the Howell Public School District located in Howell, Michigan, and teacher, Johnson ("Jay") McDowell, for punishment and humiliation heaped on a student after he expressed his religious belief opposing homosexuality when asked by the teacher during class. Street Preachers silenced by police wardens in England, during Manchester's annual "gay pride march."

This weekend, the following also occurred:

Today [12/1/08], whilst preaching in Manchester, a gentleman phoned the police to complain about the message that Miguel was preaching. He had accused Miguel of insulting his sexuality. The police came and detained Miguel and took him to a police wagon for questioning.

Whilst Miguel was being detained another gentleman appeared out of the crowd and offered his support, even challenging the police. Then I stepped in and took up the mantle by preaching myself. At the same time the person that had originally made the complaint appeared and told me that I would be, 'sorted out.' He then unrolled a blanket and sat on the floor at the side waiting to see what was going to happen and shouting abuse as I continued to preach the Word of God.

After about an hour two police officers returned with Miguel to let us know that Miguel had no case to answer, that they were sorry for wasting his time and that we could carry on, adding that we should, 'Keep up the good work.'

Upon this they immediately detained the man that had originally made the complaint against Miguel in order to warn him against wasting police time and making false accusations (apparently he had a habit of making similar phone calls so was already known by them.)

Other Christians who were around also came to offer support.

At the moment what we preach on the streets does not contravene any laws--this is not to say that the laws could not be changed so that preaching the message of repentance could be outlawed (such a possibility could arise as the House of Lords will be ruling on whether or not to accept the proposed legislation regarding Civil Liberties particularly the amendment which would protect freedom of speech and religious beliefs.)

Note: The police made Miguel prove to them, from the Bible, that the word homosexual appears in Scripture. This he did, otherwise, he may have been arrested. He was also informed that they film his preaching each week in the town centre and record everything he says! Big Brother is surely among us. Romans 1:26-28.

Yeah, it really looks like they were silenced and their freedom of speech was definitely infringed upon. You can tell by the fact that they were arrested, removed from the street, and forcibly gagged. Oh, wait, no, none of that happened . . . they were left where they were and were allowed to continue saying whatever they wished. How about a reality check.
