I understand where you're coming from...but you need to be aware, that there is a lot of religious connotation built in to Halloween/Hallow's Eve/Feast of All Saints. I agree with you that they shouldn't try impose their views on others (from both sides), but if they don't wish to be a part of it, it is their choice and you should respect it. However, they should respect your choice to celebrate it in kind.
