Why do you yarn over passing the plastic under the crochet hook and not upon it? Is it a new technique, is the result different from the classical way?

Well, the truth is that I crochet this way because I didn't learn how to crochet the proper way. When I crochet the classical way with yarn, sometimes the yarn splits in half and I have to redo the stitch.
