Due to demand I have posted the different Sarah Version taken from Shades of a Blue Orphanage. It is a much gentler produced song as there are no guitar solos and the piano really comes through as opposed to only the start of Version 2. Hope you enjoy took me a while to find it on my computer.

This song was written by Phil for his daughter Sarah. It was my dads favorite. And guess what !!!! My name is Sarah 'cause I was named after that song. Now my dad calls it my song because of my name.

Hey, sbyrne1, when you refer to "version 2" of Sarah, are you referring to the song on Black Rose? If so, that song is actually called My Sarah and not just Sarah. The Sarah from Shades is (supposedly) about Phil's grandmother, and My Sarah from Black Rose is about Phil's newly born daughter.

If you did not mean My Sarah from Black Rose when you said "version 2," you must mean there is a second version of this song. In that case, where can the two versions be found? (On what albums?)

Hey JC. This song was originally called just 'Sarah' but on various albums and compilations they had to put versions on due to confusion with the Black Rose which is a completely different song. This is version 1 because it was the original on Shades album where they didn't have as much guitar work in. Version 2 is the same song but with guitars added at a later date and appeared on the 'Whisky In The Jar' compilation album.

my dad was a roadie with Phillo and the boys for 9 years, he sadly past away 5 years ago yesterday from cancer and this was his favourite song it was played on repeat during his last moments on this earth and it was sang by Dennis Allen at his funeral, beautiful moving song. cheers

@jcdenton7 , um the version on Black Rose is called "Sarah" as well pinhead. and its a song that clocks n at 3:32 as opposed to the one that is on the Shades of a Blue Orphanage which clocks in at 2:59, learn to read bub.
