My synesthesia is a bit mild. I can pick out colors for every individual letter, but I don't actually 'see' them. I just associate them to colors in my mind's eye. Another thing I've noticed is that more "circular" letters/numbers are lighter colors. Such as C, Q, O, 3, and 8, which are all yellows, peaches, and light oranges.
Does that ring true for anyone else (the letter shape playing a role in its color)?

For me, these shapes and designs are similar, but the colors are completely off!

@tsheidi Haha it sort of does...I mean it helps me remember the formulas I have to use in math xD Hm idk, I honestly don't know any other synesthetes so I haven't been able to catch a pattern lol Hm well my vowels aren't all bright..my As, Is, Os and Ys are all bright but my Es are black and Us are...uh a greyish bluey green color lol

@Thoughtful16 That must help with math! My 3, 6, and 9 are yellow-orange, orange, and brown, respectively. While they're not as close as yours, those colors are still similar. I wonder if there is some kind of pattern there among synesthetes, like vowels commonly being the brightest/most saturated colors :)

@tsheidi Hey, I'm like you - I associate colors with letter and numbers but instead of similar shapes having similar colors, multiples of numbers have the same colors for me. So like 3 to me is a medium green, 6 is a light green and 9 is a dark green.

@pacosaidso I agree. The image and the sound don't relate to each other for shit

what a bunch of random shit

Oh my dear, the colors are over-whelming while listening to this.

That's interesting, for me the guitar is ranging between yellow to orange normally, really sturdy hard rock guitars can be brown and gravel-like.

lol ! clean guitar sounds yellow to brown (a little bit orange sometimes) depending how high the note is for me too^^ it depends of wich pickup I'm using too. With distortion neck pickup sounds light blue to me, and bridge pickup sounds more red too !^^

no its all wrong for me guitar strings are always brown to yellow depending on how high the note is, allthough high electric guitar sounds are red or purple and look like... I dont know, I suppose they look like sound. Cant really explain it.
Ok i'm lost, i have read allot of these comments and allot of people are saying my colors or that nothing matches........ooookk? what are you talking about everyone's colors are different i know that but...i don't see how colors are off if your looking at something

According to Richard Cytowic (leading authority on Synesthesia), the multisensory information being transmitted neurally, is experienced subjectively. I am certain that if you have synesthesia, and a work of art doesn't add up to your personal experience, it could be quite maddening. These same impulses (or similar levels of dissatisfaction) drove Kandinsky and Schoenberg (and many others) to produce the kind of artwork they did.

i see music as fractal art, like skyscrapers of it, like growing architecture. is that synesthesia?

It's possible. What might make it synesthesia could be if you had no control over seeing those things. It would probably happen with different kinds of sounds as well, if your's happens from sound stimuli. The best reference would be Dr. Richard Cytowic, Neurologist. I'm not a Neurologist.

No Problem. His book, The Man Who Tasted Shapes, influenced my work greatly. I read it in the 90's.
