Obama hosts Hu Jintao at state dinner as currency, trade tops menu

Barack Obama is keeping the pressure on China to let the value of its currency rise, with further comments during the Chinese president's 4-day trip to the United States. It's one of the most divisive issues between the two nations, with America saying the Yuan is being kept deliberately low to give Chinese exports an advantage. Obama says China supports nearly half a million U.S. jobs, is its largest trading partner after Canada and Mexico, and is also the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt. The two leaders also discussed human rights, with Hu Jintao saying China is willing to continue talks based on mutual respect, and the non-interference in their internal affairs.

Moreover, the unemployment rate is one out of myriad economic indicators; it fails to take the size of the economy in question into account. The US economy is almost as large as ALL of Europe's economy in terms of GDP, and Eastern Europe accounts for a tiny portion of that--about 5-10%. You're dismissed
