if you can play it lick for lick, then i need to come study with you! i did some transcriptions: the 8 bar break and some of 'too many people' for m.drummer but they have never used them - the cd's were not out then and they only wanted stuff that was available. how did he do those lightning fast cymbal chokes? with his rh or lh? i thought someone might be helping in the studio until i heard the live concerts - all his own stuff. wish i could have been sitting there with you.
i wrote a review amazon and i think that's how i learned that he used a stage name. he has a son. i don't know how or when he died but such a great lose. i saw the ususual hh setup on the posted video. i met garibaldi last yr but forgot to ask him about sandy-i'm sure they knew and maybe jamed together. that break in shop talk would be one anyone would be proud of. new concerts are on wolfgang'svault with sandy - drummer is wrongly listed. i have long loved lydia!
His real name was McKee as far as I know. Did you read something on that? Did you know he played right handed setup, but left hand on hihat but his hihat was way lower then the snare. I've never seen anybody play like that.
They were on the First taste of Sin Tour. Only five feet away the entire show. I was on cloud nine. Hot Band and Lydia was a hotty. She was on the grass meditating. I was playing to cold blood when I was 10 years old, lick for lick. Nice stuff.
i'm very jealous. i would love to know more about mckee. i know that was a stage name... his drumming still knocks me out - i'm still trying to catch up. i've only seen him mentioned once in m.drummer. one of the great 'unknowns' of the drumming brotherhood.
Waiot a minute. Big Brother with Janis was pr-grunge, inventing a type of music that had not been heard and has not been heard since: raw, original, primal, FREAK. Cold Blood, while good, was NOT an original soumd. The sad thing is that corporate record companies co-opted the alternative scene and made it main stream. Albert Grossman was the destroyer. GET REAL.
Lydia sexy looks with that "FANTASTIC VOICE" backed-up by her tight horn section "COLD BLOOD BAND" made that group one of the best live performing groups ever.
I never thought about that!! It's true!! COLD BLOOD kicks Janis Joplin in two seconds!!! Why didn't Cold Blood gets such fame? Jesus! There's a lot of injustice in this world. I guess to be famouse you need to make a lot of stupid circus things, and leave the real talent for second.
Still playin'? GREAT to hear!

I saw Lydia and Cold Blood in Spokane about a dozen or so years ago and they were still tight. Great group.
