I like the end of this clip, Light is realizing that getting rid of L doesn't mean that L is actually gone. It makes me happy to know that the coolest character EVER is haunting to only character I've ever TRULY hated.

Even if light dodn't study his fathers cases you have to understand, at the start of the ehole thing he was already the smartest person in japan, so he could easily do the things you guys are talking about.

As much as you won't believe me - you're actually right. According to How To Read 13, the Wammy House had an alphabet for special children. A was the original succesor of L, but commited suicide, and B (who you know as Beyond Birthday), well, you know his story. And the list goes on and on.

On the contrary, Near and L were trained detectives, whereas Light was a mere student for most of the series. Unless Light studied all his father's cases thoroughly growing up, his skills don't seem as realistic to me. But I do see your point about him being interesting.

@DocRavage Well Light was always very much alone in the way he worked and apart from a few most disagreed with his ideas (rightfully so) so when he made his decisions he had to abuse his one advantage (having a death note) and this meant his ideas were always more interesting to me due to never being possible in real life. Also, to me Near and L's deduction skills seemed a bit unrealistic whereas Light's plan's I could imagine someone actually coming up with.

Well when half the characters on the show are geniuses, why would your favorite be the one among them that's a serial killer madman? L, and Near and Mello together are equally as competent if not moreso than Light.

So there is L mello and near... Near takes the name N. it can be assumed that Mello would have been M. So it's LMN... so... has there been an ABCDEFGHIJK before L? (I know it's a no... but I just thought it was funny)
