  • yeah, we put on finish and all that by hand, but we would sand with different types of machines. for the corners we would take a razor to it...

tedious work, but been doin it for 40 years

    my dads the best

  • Nah man, my dads old school haha

and no, my dad hasnt had a single hand prints mishap in the 38 years hes been doin it.. i guess hes just a badass.

haha the pirates remarks kinda ironic,; he's only got one good eye, other one got stabbed out by a fishing hook.

and yes, always rag. better shine.

and mojobubba, who the hell pays attention to grammar on the internet? i wasnt writing a paper and obviously you knew what i meant. and i was working in another room, he didnt know i was recording.

  • @plumflowerblossom no no no no no

do not sand it by hand, my dad was tidying up the edges of the floors with his hand

because of how the edger machine tends to leave waves and other marks in the floor, he was just fine tuning it.

  • how many codas varnish & stain?

  • mnbn

  • That's awfully ambitious. I've been doing this professionally for over 10 years now and I can assure you that you're talking about a huge can of worms there. And I definitely wouldn't recommend renting a sander as you seriously risk damaging the floor. You really should pay a professional or just leave it alone. If you do try hand sanding that floor you will need to start with a 40g sandpaper with a sturdy backing. The crap from lowes won't cut it.

btw- Not my video, not my dad ;)

  • @evsnova74 well i am just going to do everything by hand. I can't afford to buy or rent a sander so i will just do a bit at a time then stain by hand to as your dad did. My room is small so it shouldn't be too hard.

  • How would you do what he's doing in this video? Got any ideas?

  • did he sand the floor by hand too?

  • I think it is Me and my Dad finishing a floor, it's supposed to be whatever it would be without "and my dad", which would be "Me finishing a floor".

It looks like he's water popping it on that vid. It raises the grain so the stain soaks in deeper and appears more rich in color.
