@mjcz5853 thanks--wonder how Tejon works in the wet saltwater beach situation----I've seen a video showing that the Vaq was not good at wet salt beach hunting--guy couldn't even GB it in wet sand of saltwater beach

@mjcz5853 I was thinking of getting the Sand Shark or a Excalibur but the Excal is expensive--but it is a good detector--PI does great in saltwater but you have to basically dig everything

Excellent video! I am a beginner with the Vac. Very helpful as all of your other videos. Keep em coming.

Once again excellent video...I would love to see you do a side by side video in a trashy park setting. I have both as well and have found the Etrac is so busy nulling that I have to go to a snails pace in order to proceed. Not so with the Vaquero even with a lot of discrimination! My Etrac is becoming dusty as well.
How well does Vaquero operate in wet salt sand at beach near the surf? I hunt near the surf area a lot and most VLF machines don't work too well in wet salt sand at beaches I've been to---only a pulse machine worked okay in these areas but had me digging everything--no disc ability with PI units---I'd like to know if the Vaquero or some other detector less than 500 bucks would be able to work well in this wet saltwater sand at the beaches???

@micmoable For beachs and wet sand I'd go with a SandShark, Tiger Shark or a Seahunter MKII. All of the in the $600 - $700. Any detector in the %500 or less range is simply not going to produce as well in the wet sand and surf.

How does the Vaquero compare to the Tejon?
micmoable 4 weeks ago
@micmoable The Tejon operates in a higher frequency - 17kz, where the Vaquero is 14kHz. The “V” will have a slight edge on coins, the Tejon an edge on smaller targets lower in the conductivity scale. The “T” also has duel disc and variable tone. Both have manual ground balance. Not really much difference on depth.

Still the Etrac is better.

@backspace4093 Remember the Vaquero is only $460. So you have to ask yourself, is it really worth paying a $1000 more for additional information on a display? I had an opportunity to use both for a year, and tested both on all types of targets and I can say no, it's not. I'm not brand loyal. I simply look at the price / performance ratio and for the money, the Tesoro Vaquero is better in some areas, and the Etrac has out performed in some others. My opinion based on non biased testing.
