Many female mammals, for example, will show their desire for sexual penetration by raising their tail, making noise, and pressing back against a male with no resistance. Again, I'm not familiar with horses specifically, but it is at least POSSIBLE for mares to show similar observable clues.

People are certainly capable of discerning the basic wishes of their pets. You don't need to be a dog to know that a dog enjoys having its belly rubbed.

I don't know whether or not the act depicted in this carving is or is not rape. I am simply arguing that it is not NECESSARILY rape and that it is not as impossible as you are suggesting for humans to assess a female (or male) animal's willingness to engage in a sex act. Animals communicate richly in other ways other than verbally.

As for your comment about a woman being raped... I never said that penetration can be equated automatically with pleasure.

You're saying that the only way for a human to know whether or not a female horse is willing to be penetrated by a penis is by giving verbal consent? This is probably not true. I'm not particularly familiar with the sexual behaviour of horses specifically, but I know that female animals in general are pleasured by intercourse, and that when they are not, they are able to show their displeasure through aggression and resistance.

@Myaucat The world has become too clinical and logical for my taste, and a point of substance is only in perception. The universe gifted you with a wonderful mind, use it to consider things from more angles. If you stop looking at a ragged corner of the of the painting, and see the big picture, you will see that it is truly impossible to hold an opinion, when you look from various angles. Instead of asking why these shared ancient ancestors of humanity built this temple, as instead how.

@monsterchildofdeath it's crazy to think that you KNOW what the horse thinks, feels and wants, and that you would take the chance of violating it, based on your ignorant assumption. horses are very shy, sensetive and emotional creatures, and *only* another horse can truly have a complete understanding with one of its kind. they love each other in their own way, which we could *never* fully understand unless we were a horse ourselves.
