TVRM's Steam All the Way trip, June 6, 2009. 100 mile round trip from Chattanooga, TN, to Summerville, GA, and back. The consist was ex-USATC 2-8-0 610, coaches 907 and 1037, dining car 3158 "Travelers Fare", Pullman 97 "Clover Colony", and Observation 98 "Eden Isle".

Part 2 of the 3 part series includes footage of the train from Rossville, GA, down through Trion, GA. This includes some of my favorite footage of the train.

Part 3 coming soon!

  • @BNSF9187 Actually, it was delivered to the US Army with a standard bell mounted on the smokebox beside the headlight. During restoration at TVRM, it was given the bell, placed under the pilot. I recently removed the bell for storage after it was removed from service in December.

  • @PereMarquette1223 Because it IS one. 610 was built in 1952 and was the last steam locomotive built for domestic use in the US. At the time she was built, her builder, Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton, was an all-diesel facility, so when the US Army ordered 610, she was fitted with a diesel bell as that was the bells BLH used for their diesels at the time.

  • why does the bell on that steamer sound like a early diesal bell?
