Genesis (minus Steve Hackett & Peter Gabriel) performing at the Lyceum Theatre in May of 1980. One of the last tours, if not the last, that featured complete performances of much of the great songs of the 70s before they reduced them to medleys.

  • This is Toronto? Probably explains the absence of dim-witted heckling.

Sometimes I'm not proud to be English.

  • @TheExcelsior1 Actually it's the Lyceum Theatre in London

  • Sorry guys, but it's time to admit that Phil was the superior live singer. Oh, and Chester is twice the drummer Bruford ever was with Genesis.

  • oh lyceum 1980. i was there

  • From another thread, was this about PG leaving. Very convoluted.

But then I think Judas took the place of Jesus on The Cross :-)

  • @BillBrolse non sono d'accordo

  • fucking amazing

  • @lavaxtris1 same here

  • I have loved them since 1979 and never stopped. Even as they evolved. The early days were the best but the sadest day ever was when phil left because they aslways threw in some classic with every consert!!!!!!

  • @BillBrolse agreed. i love gabriel genesis to death, but he often sounded pretty bad live. he had his "on-nights" too though. he sounds mostly good on the shepperton studios 1973 footage.

  • I've been obsessed with the album Trick of the Tail for two weeks now. I won't go a day without playing the whole thing, not to mention a couple songs twice over.

  • @markjgoffin Yeah it is. 1980. Duke tour.

  • OH god...what an amazing version. These guys will always be my favorite. They're just the perfect band; end of story.
