Why don't bass players listen more to Ray Brown and less to Jaco Pastorius?
Mind you, I'm a bass player myself, but I just can't stand all these suckas playing 16th notes in every song, always with that goddamned bridge pickup on or slapping like there is no tomorrow.
THIS is what playing bass guitar is about. Getting your own tempo, playing for the band and for the music. if you wanna sound like a blasted sax maybe it's time to do a favour to us all, sell your bass and buy a sax.

@jodi183 Ray Brown studied at the best school, the street of NY around 1940's from the best teachers. Thats how it was back then, there was no such thing as a jazz studies major.

@Gabepaullikegirls Haha He doesn't remind me of Scott LaFaro at all. He's just bad at playing melodic bass. He kind of looks like early-eighties Bill Evans though :)
