@fluff125 Sorry friend, but until you actually ask those who are actively involved in timebanks how well they work or become involved in one yourself to gain firsthand knowledge, your judgment has absolutely no merit.
It still works, even if people within the system are lazy, as those people don't need to be hired again if a person wasn't happy with them the first time around.
However, that's more an issue for the future, should timebanking truly take off as a country-wide economic system. The people who are involved now do so out of choice, and so are self-motivated to do their best.
But wait, what if I sit on my lazy ass during my hour of work, and then I hire the most hardworking young altruist on the block during their hour of work?
Wouldn't the most industrious people be worse off in this arrangement, having to hire someone who is clumsier and less capable than them, to do something they can do far better themselves?
This is great as a community project, but absolutely worthless as a social or economic system.
