As a schoolboy, Daniel Varon Silva was already creating shampoos and hand cremes. Chemistry was his favorite subject. Today the 35-year-old Columbian works at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.His goal is to produce molecules tailor-made to have long-lasting, targeted effects in the body to combat diseases like multiple sclerosis, malaria, and tuberculosis.
