Running Dunkin Herring's locomotives around part of his track in North Carolina. You can visit his site at thebackyardengineer.com

These engines were amazing to run and his grades were incredibly steep! 4.5%! Amazing engineering on them. It took us three trys to finally hook up with him, he is indeed an busy man!

  • those crossing gates works or it dont?

  • @8534951 They work but were not turned on at the time. There is a bell and flasher circuit as well as pneumatic gates that lower as the train approaches. Pretty nice system. But once again, not on at the time.

  • Very cool!

  • Yep, Check the video from papasmurf7597 of Dunkins GE and EMD

  • @rexman92

That is very true. These engines are the best electrics I've ever seen and to lay my hands on them was truly a great experience.

  • @dgmarklin im shure it also means more when from scratch

  • I love it.

  • what if a squirrelle ran in front of it LOL

  • Building is much cheaper than buying...

Check my GE 44 video, I built that engine (yet to run =( ) for just over 1000 minus cost of batteries...

The engines in this video go for over 10,000 each

  • Yep, Mr. Herrings engines are really awesome! The volume can be turned up also if you wish, they are sweet!

  • This is an amazing backyard railroad. I do this stuff for CSX, but I think this takes the cake!!! The sound is phenomenal. Sounds like a real emd prime mover, the rocking of the engines on the joints, and the sound of the wheels hitting the joints!!
