A song that deserves to be remembered.
I tried to remove the crackling due to the grainy shellac but then I decided not to do it since removing the noise, also the music is removed. The beauty of this recording is the acoustic given by the large room with a natural reverberation.

  • yes and Fatty Arbuckle in the middle

  • The photo of the guys in the pool is great! And I'm glad you got Laurel & Hardy in there as well. I posted a response to your question about the unknown band photos on the Bix forum, check it out when you get a chance.

  • That large auditorium reverberation was because Whiteman had leased Orchestra Hall (home of the Chicago Symphony) for these recording sessions. Most dance bands of this era were recorded in studios which were designed to minimize reverberations.

  • Great all round post.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • by the way, who is singing?

  • I agree with 78 TIMOTHY. The record has a hauntingly-clear sound, that is not found on most Victor records. Whiteman loved cars and booze. Sometimes he would mix the two, and try to race the state troopers. Plenty of fun in those days.

  • Adorei !!
