I think the name of it is "How to kill a friend" It was the episode that was mixed up on the DVD release.

Are you talking about the scene with Doc trying to check a wound on Matt's arm. It's "How to kill a friend" I think. It was the episode the got mixed up on the DVD release. Just so you know, the guy on the ground is not Chester.

That was from the first episode "Matt gets". Gunsmoke was advertised as a different take on westerns. so on the fist episode they had him lose his first on screen gunfight to an "unbeatable" gunman. He spends weeks recovering and bravely challenges the guy again, this time armed with the knowledge of the gunman's one major flaw.
