As one of the most remote and hostile locations in the world, the South Pole is no place for an equipment failure. So when the Tasmanian government's Antarctic Division was looking to implement a power distribution system in its Hagglund Recovery Vehicles, it needed the most rugged and reliable system available that could handle repeated expeditions to the South Pole.

With it's durability, ruggedness and ability to handle temperatures as low as minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit, Digital Switching Systems was the clear choice.

Represented in Australia and New Zealand by its certified integration center, Paulger Control Systems, Digital Switching Systems installed the first of 17 Hagglund Recovery Vehicles in 2009.

Each system includes Digital Switching System's PowerCore 21 load controller and two 8-position PowerKey relegendable keypads, providing the ability to connect various new networked devices to the DSS system.

DSS and Paulger Controls also combined the total system features to include transmission shifter and brake interlocks, along with CAN-bus engine instrumentation and fault codes.

With it's durability, ruggedness and versatility, Digital Switching Systems continues to be the supplier of choice for power distribution.

  • " Tasmanian government's Antarctic Division" should be 'Australian Government" - the Tasmanian government doesn't run the Antarctic Division.
