Just because the car industry COULD be re-orientated to make USEFUL things, this pre-supposed that the average North American can come back from the edge of being 700% more wasteful than the earth's resources can supply and be encouraged to invest in products that are made to last and that are useful to living a life in this economic climate (i.e re-training their dumbed-down consumerist 'lights-in-your-sneakers' attitudes along with the aims of the old-school US industrial giants such as GM!)
