  • Aloha Franciscan Friars of Chicago! Gob bless you & for the generous reply. Ahui hou!

  • A far as I understand, the ONLY people "forced, banished and perished" to Moloakai, specifically Kaalwapau, and later Kalawao were "lepers."

  • Kalaupapa is a leper colony so yes youre absolutely correct when saying that the ONLY people "forced, banished and perished" were "lepers."

  • Long live Father Damien who offered his life helping the sick. I am so proud this great man came from MY COUNTRY!! In october he will be declared a Saint!!

R.I.P. Pater Damiaan, u zal voor altijd een voorbeeld blijven van onbegrensde mensenliefde.

  • Mahalo nui loa Cocalighto. Belgium birthed a beautiful, dedicated & most compassionate man. Excited & anxiously awaiting for Octobers celebration.

  • I'm a direct descendent of the first Hawaiians who were forced, banished & perished to the island of Molokai. I just wanted to express my gratitude, appreciation & love for our Father. I love you Father Damien. Mahalo nui loa for helping my family. Our people. I'm here today because of you. My visit there made a profound impact on my spiritual & psychological self. How fortunate are we?
