I was just pointing it out, and yes, I do know that. I know just about all the in's and out's you can know for an outsider. I've studied them for years. I know the names of many of them today. And in Tokyo they used to have apprentices who were called "Hangyoku" meaning "half jewel" and other cities, like Osaka, used to have maiko, but modernization has set inn, so yes, Kyoto is the only one now to have them. I never said you shoudl be perfect with your makeup, just giving some "pointers."

It's cool to see a video that features red eyebrows. I think that I'll try that next time!

I think you should study the lips a bit more? They should probably be colored a little brighter, and a bit bigger :-) Also, I think smudging your eyeshadow a bit into the creases would make it look prettier.

oh wow...you did the eyes very well!

Nicely done:)
Actually, they do still wear it, but as they get older they no longer need to. They are steeped in tradition, so while a few details may change, the whole will stay the same. The look wasn't a bad thing all together, I was just pointing those things out and perhaps it could have been made more clear that that isn't normally how it's done. But I know a lot about maiko/geiko/geisha, and I know their traditions very well, and they still do that.

i didn't say the don't wear it at all but in some areas the makeup is reserved for extremely formal situations. do you know in some areas they don't have maiko at all, a girl will simply train and graduate as a geisha? i too know a lot about maiko/geiko/geisha and i know this isn't an exact repilica of a geisha/maiko. this is simply my take on it. i know it isn't accurate. but i'm not a geisha.

While your makeup has similarities to geisha/geiko/maiko makeup, they do NOT fill in their eyes with red like that!! They only line the corners with red and sometimes some black. And they would make their lips a little bigger than that. And they do NOT wear hair like that, either!! They have age-old traditional hairstyles they wear and ONLY those. So, all in all, I would not call this "geisha makeup." It's not accurate enough. It's more like Harajuku geisha or something.

@AyilanaEien
okay, i know they don't line their eyes like that but since i don't have a geisha makeup kit i made due with what i had. i had to use lipstick and it kept leaving marks so i just filled in the eye. geisha/maiko in different stages fill in their lips to different degrees. this is more like a maiko into geisha look. okay, i know the hair isn't accurate either. i don't have a neighborhood geisha stylist. btw, geisha tradition is starting to change. some don't wear the makeup anymore.
