Network Rail, on behalf of Crossrail demolished Dog Kennel Bridge over Christmas 2010. This was the only time of year that the railway was closed and impacts on passengers could be avoided.

The Bridge, approximately one kilometre from Iver station, was demolished as part of Network Rail's first implementation works of the Crossrail programme. Demolition was needed to provide the minimum safety clearances needed for the over-head electrical lines that will be used by Crossrail trains.

The track was protected from falling rubble, and excavators and diggers used to demolish the structure. The rubble was recycled at an adjacent facility, which had the added advantage of reducing the number of vehicle movements needed to remove debris from the site.

  • Cool. Would be cool to then see a train passing by. :)

  • @onjoFilms Yeah I know - but they turned the whole site's power off when they went home, before the trains started to run again.

  • nice! Should put music in it though

  • @KiranGlitch Thanks. We only do time lapse though - what the client does with music etc is up to them!
