The whole point of marriage, at least in the Christian church, is about creating a commitment to another person. Now granted, one could make a commitment without an official "marriage" proposal or ceremony. From a health-based point of view committed monogamy is safer than multiple sexual partners (much less chance of STDs), and even if you think the spirit of the commitment is dead, don't judge an relational status by the ones that fail.
everyone has the right to their own opinion and you shouldn't judge someone until you've been there.
