Yesterday someone Tweeted this photo of a giant monster rat, supposedly discovered at a Foot Locker in the Bronx.

You might recognize this guy, as he bears a striking resemblance to the 3-foot-long beast that was stabbed with a pitchfork in Brooklyn last year. That one was believed to be a Gambian pouched rat, and may have been someone's escaped pet.

However, it wasn't the first one spotted in that area, and locals believed they were multiplying faster than Gremlins taking a bath.

With this spotting in the Bronx, we think it's safe to say this superbreed of mutant rat is priming for a takeover of the five boroughs (everyone grab some Mountain Dew). Was there anything in that Mayan prophecy about rodents?

  • @HighlanderNorth1 No,Rats in NYC do indeed get THAT BIG.My dad worked in Grand Central Terminal as a Roadway Men(a.k.a Trackmen) for some 30 years.I've seen BIGGER with my own two eyes.

  • @HerbWalker heres a beastiality type guy...watching the animals nuts....net u got a boner didnt ya

  • I've seen this before. It's just Rick Santorum passed out after a party.~

  • Its probably a Nutria and not a rat. They have these things all over New Orleans, and they get big and weigh around 10lbs or so. Someone probably released a few Nutria in New York, and they are temporarily surviving there, or it's a hoax and isnt really in New York. But Nutria live around waterways normally, which is why they like New Orleans, but New York is too cold in the winter for Nutria unless they can find a warm place in a sewer or something.

  • Those are wharf rats that come off seagoing ships.

Horrible carriers of disease, even bubonic plague.

  • Today, someone caught a 27 lb lobster.
