Yeah! Oh, Yeah!, Cambdridge Corn Exchange 2004

the encore. I've seen them play this as an encore before and this performance was a bit cornier than usual!
I think the audience were a bit giggly after 1h30min of the band sitting on their chairs, looking pretty serious and not moving much.

(although the in beetween stage banter from Claudia could be pretty funny)

  • Stephen Merritt - The best lyricist OAT.

    IMHO

  • Why is the audience laughing? This song always makes me so sad. :(

  • @Sonnenradikal Yep. I picture my ex-wife in Stephen's role.

  • Oh, how I envy you all. I would love to see these guys play live. Unfortunately, I live in Australia...and the chances of them touring are on a par with me landing a three way with Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Morrison :P

  • @Sonnenradikal - I guess there's an element of exaggeration that's supposed to be humorous, but I agree that it' is sad and desperate

  • I must be one of a few Magnetic Fields fans that actually DOES NOT find this song funny at all. The first time I heard it I pictured a man that had callously fallen out of love with his wife, abused and taken her for granted for years and eventually ended up killing her just as cold. It is quite depressing to me, particularly if you have ever been in the position of the woman asking the questions in the song, asking if someone still loves you. Either way everyone has their own interpretation.

  • @earthvssoup26 Tack!!
