It's not badly designed. In fact, it's a master-class on how to adapt a pen-and-paper RPG for a video game. Ryan just hasn't cared to learn how to play it. It's fun to watch, but it's no more evidence of bad game design than the many flight sim quick looks done by GB. In fact, 90% of the reason why Ryan's struggling is because he didn't bother to read the text that tells you to go south to Nashkel and instead he went east, which you're not meant to do until much later in the game.

Ok, you might be right - but isn't Ryan also criticising the fact that the modern designers of this game haven't done ANYTHING to make the game more stream-lined. Do you like to look at a screen that has a third taken up by obvious interface stuff? I think it's possible to extract the good from the original whilst also being brave enough to place it into an context that allows people to engage with it better.

Dark Alliance is a million times better. this game is trash.
