@windex1234 First this happen only in Rio de Janeiro, not in the whole country, second there are many safe places in Rio with HDI higher than many european cities, and like in 2007 pan american games, Rio will be the safest city in the world, Third you can be a victim of violence in any part of this world, for instance my uncle went to vancouver in 2009 , and he was robbed by a gunman.fourth the police took over many favelas, things are getting better now.

@brasucasoul if it was a street full of addicts then that would be east hastings. i wouldnt doubt if it was a heroin junkie with a pellet gun. guns cost a shit load in canada, and anybody pulling a street robbery wouldnt be able to afford one. i would be more afraid if the fucker pulled a needle out and tried to prick me!!! i wanna go to rio but the cops scare me more than the gangsters. seems like they stick to their hoods, but the cops are everywhere.

Anyway i aint comparing both, just saying the whole world is fucked and terrible things can happen anywhere.
