Corn on Bungee Cord - Squirrel and Steller's Jay

Squirrel jumps up to the corn hanging on a bungee cord followed by a Steller's Jay hanging on to cord just above the corn. Last year the Steller's Jay could not get at the corn unless he did a flying jump right into the corn and knocked a piece off. Even though a Steller's Jay is not a clinger, it learned to grab ahold of the cord and hang upside down to get at the corn.

The bungee cord is hanging from a tree with the end about two feet off the ground. I was lower but as the squirrels found the corn and would jump, I raised it up a little each day.

I have a carabiner with a bell and an eyelet screw attached to the other end. I added the bell only because it was lying around and had no other use and since every time a bell rings an angle earns its wings, I let the squirrels and birds help the angles.

I have used dried corn and fresh corn with both working equally well as far as the corn getting taken but if you notice the squirrel grabs one piece after another . . . it is hiding the corn in the trees so dry corn would probably work best.

I just screw the two inch eyelet screw into the corn cob all the way down and clip it on.
