Lex and Clark- Running Up That Hill

Yay! It's finally done...if this ain't a labor of love I don't know what is...I LOVE these two so much! I loved them as friends, even though I knew it couldn't last...and as that moment approached where they couldn't be friends I grew sadder and sadder...but then...I loved them as enemies! They were so intense and had such good chemistry in every situation...their scenes together were always my favorite, no matter what. It was sad to see Lex go on the show, I miss him, but I do feel the show did kinda need something to refresh it after season 7, and getting rid of Lana and Lex did help to revive it because it could focus on some other Superman villains and also, of course start to focus on Lois and Clark. Anyway, this is just my little tribute to this amazing pair. It took me awhile, because inspiration came in spurts...I was incredibly inspired by this song, but then I couldn't think of clips to go with it...and then I would just thinks of little parts...some of the lyrics took me awhile to mach (like "let's exchange the experience), but I think it all turned out okay. Basically I interpreted "Running up that Hill" in one of three ways: 1. Running toward their destiny as enemies. 2. Trying to re-gain their friendship 3. Saving each other...obviously Clark does more of this, but Lex does sometimes too. :). It also took me awhile to think of the coloring I wanted and then after that there were all the quotes...all the many, many quotes, hahaha...I'm not entirely convinced they added much to the video, but hopefully everyone will like them. I made it for luvtheheaven's "Sum-Up Relationships That Are Over" contest...so hopefully it does that. :)

Some of the voice overs are hard to hear. I did the best I could to make them audible, but I'll just write all the voice overs just in case and put stars next to the ones that are difficult to hear. :D
L: I flew over Smallville, and for the first time I didn't see a dead end, I saw a new beginning. Thanks to you I have a second chance. We have a future Clark, and I don't want anything to stand in the way of our friendship.

*L: Did you even try to see my humanity before you decided I had none?
C: I did Lex, and look where we are.

L: I am the real Lex.

*L: Somewhere along the way you saw me as your nemesis and turned your back on me.

L: I used to think you had this strong inner core. You were so virtuous. And yet you lie...all the time.

*C: Were we ever really friends Lex?
L: I don't know, I have nothing to compare it to. You were the only real friend I ever had.

C: Lex do you ever stop and think about where your life is heading?
L: All the time. It's a complicated world Clark. Only the naive see it in black and white.

L: Maybe this was always our destiny.

C: She's never gonna fit in your world Lex.
L: Unlike you, I'm willing to do anything to see that she does.

C: Do you think we'll ever end up like that?
L: Trust me Clark, our friendship is going to be the stuff of legends.

L: I am the villain of this story.

C: I tried to be your friend Lex, but all you care about is power and control.

*C: What if part of who Lex is....is because of me. What if I gave up on him to soon?

L: You know Clark, there is one thing I'll never forget.
C: What's that?
L: How important your friendship is to me.

C: There's still good inside of you, let that voice lead you back to it.

C: Trust me Lex, there's nothing lost that can't be found again.

L: You know, I've stopped pretending to care where or not you believe me, so...why don't you?
C: Because I do care, Lex.

*C: I thought we could start over Lex, but your too obsessed with the past...with me.

C: If you thought this friendship was so doomed from the start, why'd you fight so hard to keep it?
L: Because I wanted everything you had.

C: Maybe he just knew he could trust me.
L: Of course...everybody can trust Clark Kent.

C: I've never don anything to hurt you.
L: You didn't trust me. With everything you had, everything you could do...did you ever stop to think what we could have accomplish together? I would've helped you become a hero.
C: You've never helped anyone but your self.

C: What happens next is your choice. No one is controlling you, Lex. No one is forcing you to do this.
L: Who am I to turn my back on my fellow man? Especially after you turned your back on me.

L: I loved you like a brother Clark...but it has to end this way.

Wow...there are a lot quotes. Hahaha. Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you think!

One thing about Smallville that always touched my core was the portrayal of Lex and Clark's beginning, it finally gave weight and true emotional meaning to their conflict in the future. Two people who were once best of friends, now turned into the worst of enemies. It does make one feel sad and nostalgic for the old days when things were just simple and it was just Lex Luthor and Clark Kent being friends.

@TheClash413 I did enjoy this very much, in fact, it even made me teary-eyed! I remember being a kid and watching the early days of Smallville wishing that Clark and Lex would stay friends forever, and hating the fact that they would one day be enemies and I would have to watch them tear each other apart.

@BetaArtemis In my opinion, Clarke and Lex being enemies is Clarke's fault, at least the way it is depicted in Smallville, (granted he still would have hated superman). I mean, Clarke was always sooo upset about lex lying, and thats what ended their friendship, but clarke always lies, he's a massive hypocrite.

@kulgan18 agreed, but how they erased lex's memory at the end kinda crushed all epicness between them, i know that in the main story line lex doesnt really know clark but they could have at least just erased it back right before lex got his hands on that box in season 7

@iimdudits07 anyone who really fallows they story lines in this show should truly understand just how epic this video is, it is kinda dumb tho that "this lex" is dead. lol the last few episodes of season ten wont be a genuine as people think but it will still be outstanding...i hope
