Unsolved Mysteries: Sailor Drowns During Live Broadcast

In the summer of 2007, professional sailor and magazine writer Sharon Novak broadcasted her solo sailing trip around the world over the net, while chatting with her boyfriend and co-writer, Charles Stenson, back home. During her trip, her boat hits an unknown object and suffers a mechanical failure. Now panicked, she decides to head for shore with her backup engine, only to accidentally fall into the water after her boat is struck yet again. She was last seen struggling to get back in her boat as it drifts off and was never seen again. This horrific scene was witnessed live by hundreds of online viewers.

Note: If you closely look at the bottom left of the screen in the final view from the Mast Camera, a large shadowy object can be seen. There has been much speculation that this was the cause of the accident.
