There was no magic word Andy could have used to stop his actors from abusing drugs while they were making movies with him, except maybe Cut.

Actually, tuition for the Movie Star Training Academy was on a sliding scale based on the resources of the individual. When the applicant said, How much will it cost? Andy would always say, How much have you got?

Andy insisted that, however weak, his actors were never made more responsive and interesting by clearly unethical methods, such as a cattle prod. A practicing Catholic who had denounced Edie as promiscuous and bulimic, Andy would have been applauded for having her flogged.

The idea that Andy tossed Edie aside is a myth. He anticipated her immanent suicide, but he figured he could squeeze a few movies out of her before her last breath and tried his best to keep her in line. A penny saved is a penny earned!
