So glad I am a grease monkey :) I may seem annoyed but I really love the challenge of finding out what is wrong. When I am victorious at the end and my van is running again it is all worth it. =)

  • Mine wouldn't start whenever it rained. Then it wouldn't start at all. I replaced the ignition coil today. It starts up quick now and seems to have more pep. These vans are hard to work on. Do you smell gas when trying to start? If so, it not the fuel pump. Probably ignition related. Good luck.

  • @metalmoto tell me about it. I got it finally working and it passed inspection but it didn't last. Now I have to find out what is draining the battery overnight. :( I will find it though but at this point thinking about getting a second, newer but still used, more reliable vehicle. :) Thanks for the comment.

  • hey my van is doing the same thing right now... its at a parking... it wonts fire just turn over like yours what is wrong?... could it be a bad spark plug?

  • @turbo2449 turned out to be a problem with the fuel pump and fuel pump relay plus the relay connector. i also did change the plugs and wires but now something was smoking in the engine area when I started it and the fuse is blowing again so I have given up for a while on it. Going to get another car and then worry about the van issues.

  • death to 'general motors' buy jap! starts every time....

  • Not always. Had 'jap' cars fail on friends of mine.

Got the van running again just been too busy so far to post an update video. :)

In short, was several things revolving around the fuel pump which needed to be replaced.

  • Then you will know what circuit is causing the problem. If that fuse is something you can live without, like the dome lights or radio, just leave the fuse out. Otherwise at least you know where the problem lies. Another option is to install a switch at the battery terminals, and disconnect it every night. They sell switches especially made for this, only a few dollars. Or I can guide you, and you will find the problem, it's really easy, just takes a little patience. Glad to help.

  • @InanelyHedging if you are blowing fuel pump fuse check to see if you pinch the injector wires under the air cleaner at throttle body. gm mechanic

  • well the van seams to be turning slow i had the same problem all i did was realine the distirbutor cap for the timing and it starts allot faster now hope this helpt u
