This video shows the top of the Arrowhead Incline Railway, which was used to bring materials up to the San Bernardino Mountains to build the dam for Lake Arrowhead. The incline railway was built in about 1906. We found the platform where the motor and cables were mounted. You can also vaguely see where the incline went up the slope of the mountain. The top of the incline is in an area called "Skyland" in the San Bernardino Mountains. This is near a town called Crestline in southern California, if anyone wants to look it up.

  • WOW! I used to live a five-minute walking distance from that cement structure as a kid. We would climb up and into that thing when we got bored, but I always wondered what in the hell it was for many years. That is the darnedest thing to finally figure out what it was!! One of life's mysteries FINALLY solved! Thank you!

  • LOL...yeah, I was the other way around. I had been trying to find out for years where exactly the incline railway was and then I finally found it! Too bad we didn't talk to each other before!
