Adopted by the U.S. military in the 1990's this is one of the most recognizable personal protective equipment on the market. If you shop around and find a mil-spec vest with some slightly older sapi plates, you can have yourself a quality set up for only a couple hundred dollars. If you guys have anything to add or a fact to correct, comment below or stop by and check out my channel for other gear, gun, and knife reviews. Have a great day!

  • Can this vest stop "IIIA 9mm" grade rounds? I see that there are 9 mm rounds in IIA, II, & IIIA.

  • @taretrap93 I am not positive on the different ratings of 9mm. I know just about any armor inserts will stop any 9mm with no problem

  • where can one of these be purchased?

  • @williamblake69 You can find them online or at military surplus stores. I am pretty sure there are some listed on ebay as well

  • @williamblake69 Quarter Master Supply carries them for a decent price, but doesn't say whether it's a complete set or missing plates so you probably have to ask. Finding one at a surplus in general is pretty rare, not saying there isn't some out there. Most I've seen only have the carrier in different camo patterns or they have the PASGT flak vests, I've heard the Interceptor was a regulated item.

  • @fah369 The IOTV is more comprehensive with protection. It has more kevlar and SAPI plates in it then the OTV it protects more from shrapnel and some bullets than most other vests

  • nice review man thanks for sharing

  • @taretrap93 Yes these vests (with the soft ballistic inserts that is ) are rated to stop Sub machingun 9mm rounds which are higher velocity that your standard 9mm pistol rounds. Now they are NOT tested for .44 magnum rounds so those might go through. These vests are NOT NIJ level IIIA certified but "Military" certified to a "like" IIIA. This is because the Military does NOT test with .44magnum. That round isnt in the theatre of war we deal with. Only LEOs "MIGHT" see those rounds.

  • Is it stab proof?

  • Do you know were I can get the D.A.P.S in woodland camo?

  • Thanks. Do you think this would stop .44 mag 240 gr. at 1430fps? I'm trying to know the Interceptor armor rating.

  • @CommieKiller395 Thanks for the info dude.Cheers
