  • Hi and thanks you for posting the video. I used to use Dexcom when it just came out but it wasn't accurate at all. Know I know that they came out with more advanced stuff. Can you tell me if yours is accurate to your meter and by how many points its off, and thanks for posting about the Abbott!

  • Sorry i didn't write back earlier.

Hard to answer your question. But this what I found out about using this Dexcom 7 day. BGs outside 80-180 I found to be less accurate. However, the less BG fluctuation is more accurate on the Dexcom.

How many points off? Nothing shocking to me. I would try to test and check when my glucose was good. Because that is where I want my numbers most accurate.

  • Omg this thing is cool. By the way i subscribed to your videos, there all great! I never heard of the dexcom 7 day sensor but am reasearching right now. I have the minimed 722 pardigm insulin pump but also want to get the countious glucose monitor that sends the info to the pump. But I would have to change it every 3 days and its very expensive.

  • You should see what Abbott just released on March 10th to the US!!!!!

  • Ive got a Dexcom Seven Plus that is pretty much brand new that is just sitting in my drawer. I ended up getting a Medtronic paradigm pump that has the CGM built in. If anyone would like it please message me. It works perfect I just upgraded to my new pump and no longer need it.

  • "You should see what Abbott just released on March 10th to the US!!!!!"

Ya its great. The Abbott Navigator. There are so many options now, I have no idea which one to choose. I know what my nurse would say, " get the medtronic cgm kit, because you already have a pump it will be all in one unit". That is true, but its so expensive ($410 for 10 sensors) and each sensor lasts for only seven days.

  • Brownie, try setting some alarms to have you test between 3am and 5am. There is a natural release of glucose everyones liver does whether you have diabetes or not between those times for most. Mine personally sky rocket more then 70 points. So I correct that by changing my basal pattern 3 1/2 before that time for me. OH YEAH.... Good numbers to follow... yippe! Sorry that's how I felt when I was am to solve that problem I had.

  • Brownie.... LET ME HELP YOU MAN!!!! Look into something called "dawn phenomenon." It's not just for old diabetics, I have it!

My sugars jump up from 3am-5am sky high!

I am not sure how long (years) that I had "dawn phenomenon" but the only why I really saw it was from wearing this exact sensor!

  • yeah i know. ive been gettin sloppy since i got the pump. i guess it kinda "spoiled me". i put on a few pounds cause i like eat almost anything ( in moderation, of course :D). from like 11:00 pm - 10:00 am, my sugar is all over the place cause i can never tell wat my body is gonna do wen im asleep. it kinda has a mind of its own. its like my body eats meals while im in bed, and my sugar is like a bajillion wen i wake up...

  • The "setup time" takes usually for me about 2 to start getting numbers that I feel agree with what my body thinks... Getting a BG once every 5 mins is great when the numbers are accurate. The hard part is getting that to happen and stay accurate... Urgh... it's tough.
