DRS class 37s from Torness to Carlisle thrash back south, after run round one mile south of power station. You need to e patient as they could be heard a long time before they appeared. Had been idling for ages so plenty of oil to burn off.

  • Nope! The railway doesn't want broken down nuclear trains littering the network for obvious reasons. Double power is regulation on flask trains!

  • @UrbanGuitarists as a general rule Diesel electric loco's are far more efficient than just diesel powered. they are only spinning a generator instead of moving the actual train.

    And the reason two were needed is that the nuclear flasks weigh 100 tonnes each.

  • No wonder we are running out of oil- 2 DRS Clss 37 for 3 wagons!!!
