Google is changing their terms of service on March 1st and what they want to do with your content isn't fun or happy if you ask me.

I'm not ready to leave just yet, but I don't think that Google should by default be able to make derivative works of my content just because I uploaded it. Especially since they haven't stood up for users rights to make derivative works with in the rules of fair use.

  • Pre rolls have started on the mobile youtube site now, and the worst thing is, videos DON'T load, you have to watch the pre roll three times. Sigh. I wish there was another video site that could come anywhere close to competing.

  • @makedoandblend Sorry... I do my best to turn them off. I don't get it on every video.

  • omg it just hit me. We were all complaining about copyright infringement screaming fuck the world when they want us to not use copyrighted images or words in our videos but now that the big companies want our content.... Everyone is pissed they dont have complete control and rights to the content they created.

  • @hotbeanful To be fair I'm always on the side of Copyrights and IP. I just don't like SOPA's method or lack of due process.

Also these rules mean that I can't buy a stock photo that says it will only be used for online, because it might end up in other mediums.

  • ...or is only content uploaded after March 1st affected by this?

  • @max82power No, I think it is content on the system that date gets moved to the new rules.

  • @hotbeanful Yea i completely agree, karmas a bitch.

  • So what does that mean for musicians that upload music....?

  • There’s a rash of Adsense accounts being disabled for invalid click activity last few weeks. You say not possible & there are logs to prove it, they say it’s another I.P. someone clicked 1 too many times, & you may have somehow encouraged them to do so. Asked for evidence of this they refuse saying it’s to protect their proprietary detection system. Everyone I’ve read, seen, & talked to who appealed was denied... hundreds, & that’s just the ones I found on YouTube & forums complaining.

  • New policy allows them to place ads without permission by the sound of it & with Adsense disabled they get all revenue… How convenient >.<

  • I thought that there were legal rights to people who were in videos? That if I was recorded on the news I have every right to tell them they can't use me or my likeness without a waiver. Doesn't this apply to Google Inc? I do wonder if legal creative content that Google has no rights to, IF anything you said DOES happen. Would this all hold firm in a federal court.

  • i deleted my gmail, my youtube maybe next i dont want to tho ive got a video with 19000 views and it would suck to lose that.

  • Those "slightly evil" people at Google should understand they're supposed to give us their products and services for free! How dare they treat their altruism like a business model! EVIL, EVIL, EVIL!!!

  • You are good! And thank you. By the way on my android YouTube application there's no prerolls for now
