Layton voted with Harper on Afghanistan. How sick is that? We have sunk a long way since the days of Tommy Douglas.

Taliban Jack? Are you nuts? He voted with Harper. Which is why I am pissed at him. And you obviously don't know Afghan history if you think we are welcome there.

I had a long 'speel' about what I should write next. But instead I'll just say this. If the world was so simple that we could just 'put down guns' we would all be for it. But the world isnt like that. Even if we are unarmed, they (Taliban) will continue to kill.. us and civilians.

Part of the reason for PM Harper's latest visit is to attempt to dissuade Karzai from negotiating a peace settlement with the Taliban. Translation: even the Afghan people think its about time to put down guns and start a productive dialogue for peace. Also, your comment has nothing to do with the topic of the video.

There can be NO reconstruction in areas that have Taliban presence. Therefore the Taliban need to be removed. Negotiating with them doesn't work (shock) !
The Brits tried that in the town of Musa Qala last fall, the Brits left and soon after the Taliban turned on the deal and re-took the town. Use your heads, the Taliban would have killed many many thousands of people in the 5 1/2 years we've been there.

Jack.. or more commonly known as Taliban Jack to those who actually know what's happening in Afghanistan. Let me see... ummm, 6 million kids in school (including 2 million girls) no more public executions held on a daily basis in stadiums, the Afghan people want us there. (Im not sure how much I can post in one comment so I'll continue it in a new one)

He voted against a motion that would give legitimacy to the war for two more years, and that didn't actually call for troops to be withdrawn. After it was defeated, the NDP introduced a motion calling for an immediate troop withdrawal.
