An Introduction to IBM's Smarter Planet

Rashik Parmar, IBM North East Europe Chief Technology Officer and Distinguished Engineer, introduces the concept of a Smarter Planet.

IBM created the Smarter Planet initiative based on their view of how people, businesses, organizations, governments, and natural and man-made systems of the world interact. As systems become smarter, new possibilities for progress emerge. By a Smarter Planet, they mean that intelligence is being infused into the systems and processes that enable services to be delivered; physical goods to be developed, manufactured, bought and sold; everything from people and money to oil, water and electrons to move; and billions of people to work and live.
