As long as the death and suffering advance the agenda of the Empire; as long as the right people and the right corporations gain wealth and power and privilege and prestige; as long as the death and suffering aren't happening to them or people close to them - then they just don't care about it happening to other people, including the American soldiers whom they throw into wars and who come home (the ones who make it back alive) with Agent Orange or Gulf War Syndrome eating away at their bodies.
"American leaders are perhaps not so much immoral as they are amoral. It's not that they take pleasure in causing so much death and suffering. It's that they just don't care… the same that could be said about a sociopath...
Ronald Reagan, during a meeting with Taliban leaders at the White House (1985),
praised the Taliban, stating:
"The gentlemen are the moral equivalents of America's founding fathers."
INDEED... America's founding fathers were rapacious slave owners and committed wholesale slaughter against native indians. so yeah, Reagan makes a good point.
Iraqi society today - thanks to 'American help' - is defined by house raids, death squads, check points, detentions, curfews, blood in the streets, and constant violence.
Our soldiers don't sacrifice for duty, honor or country; they sacrifice for Kellogg Brown & Root. They don't fight for America, they fight for their lives... because we put them in a war zone. They are not 'defending our freedoms', they are laying the foundation for permanent military bases to defend the freedoms of Exxon Mobil and British Petroleum. They're not establishing democracy, they are establishing the bases for an economic occupation to continue after the military occupation has ended.
They don't hate us 'because of our freedoms'; they hate us because every day we are funding and committing crimes against humanity. The so called 'War on Terror' is a cover for our military aggression to gain control of the resources of Western Asia. This is sending the poor of this country to kill the poor of those Muslim countries. This is trading blood for OIL. This is genocide. And to most of the world, WE are the terrorists. ~ Dr Dahlia Wasfi
... American leaders would not be in the positions they hold if they were 'bothered' by such things."
