Genuine Ostrich Skin Spring 2010 Colors

Here are some spring 2010 genuine ostrich skins shot outside in natural lighting to give an accurate color and hue range.

All of these skins are grade 1 and 2, however, we refer to them as very clean skins. All of these skins are 17 square foot on average, some are 16SFT and some are up to 18SQFT. Therefore the average is 17 square foot.

You will notice that only the very center and neck area contain quills or bumps. When determining your yeild, its best figure 1 yard or 9 square foot with quills and 1 and half yards per skin if you can incorporate some of the smooth non quill bearing area. Ostrich skin are naturally oily and the more the skin or leather comes in contact with natural oils from your hands the softer and more broke in the appearance of the skin or finished product you are using ostrich on.

All of our South African imported genuine ostrich skins have been drum dyed also referred to vat dyed and aniline dyed.

Common uses for genuine ostrich leather includes: Handbags, small leather goods, wall covering, car interior, headboard covers, motorcycle seats, general upholstery, jackets, boots, and just about any surface were traditional cow leather is used can be substituted with ostrich as long as you have a realistic budget.
