  • 'Crap'? Your PC was probably in the third red container in the second row. And the clothes you wear might have come from the blue container in the bottom of the fifth row.

You buy just as much 'crap' as anyone else.

  • @Disinf3ctant - Actually any "manufacturing capabilites" that China now has are all based on western invented technology and in fact were brought there and installed by western companies who only wanted to "exploit" the Chinese labor force that accepts low wages and no unions! The USA showed it was the world's top manufacturing country during WW2 and its decline in manufacturing is blamed solely on the fact that "Greedy Corporations" shipped those jobs to low paying 3rd world countries!

  • @Disinf3ctant ...The Wall St.CorpoRats had a Great and Profitable Idea....Ship all the American Manufacturing Jobs overseas to 3rd world counties.. and then the "Cheap" Imported Merechandise will be 10 times as Profitable...to the Wall St Crooks that is....meanwhile by way of this "Profitable (Ponzi) Scheme" they've Destroyed the US Economy, the US Middle Class etc etc!

The cost of importing is expensive, no doubt. But imagine paying hundreds of people just like yourself to so something as tedious as making shirts at nothing less than government determined minimum wage. Along with paying unions, payed leave, consideration of human rights, safety standards, workplace sanitation and employee befits. In China non of these things exist. People work for close to nothing. Paying longshoremen is cheaper than paying an American textile workforce.

  • @Disinf3ctant One gang is about 14 people for each crane, plus the refrigeration technicians (me) who make more than regular longshoremen, the crane mechanics, power mechanics, chassis mechanics, superintendants, guards, ship planners, line handlers, and others. Not to mention the INS, and Customs officers who have to visit every ship to clear it when it arrives and the ship agent and more. Four or so cranes per shift per ship. All of the off dock truck drivers. Parts, tool suppiers, etc. etc.

  • @3Mudbone1

Yes but it takes 300 hundred people to make 300 shirts in an hour. It doesn't take 300 of you to handle a shipping container holding 50 000 pre made T shirts.

  • @Disinf3ctant Because of the imports (and exports) I do make $50 per hour as a longshoreman, THANKS!
